Third Route I Played

Okay so, Kanato's route in HDB was a RIDE

I already knew he was different from Ayato and Laito, but he's the most unstable triplet for sure.

But after getting annoyed at him in the start, I must admit that his route, dark chapters already even, is not the worst. I really enjoyed how nice he treated his Teddy. Plus, he does have a soft side beneath all the maniacal laughter and threats that he spews at Yui. He was not one of my favourite routes, but, I do think I have taken a liking to this dude after all.

SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT SO BEWARE

My BIGGEST gripes:
He immediately gets very unpredictable & acts like a child. Also, there should be a warning for headphone users.
Aka, he screams. A LOT.

The main thing about Kanato's route was, how insane that guy got. He had more moodswings than the other chars.
In his dark chapters he behaved relatively harsh towards Yui, hurting her a lot and even assaulting her.
But, he did have some cute moments too!

I especially loved the CG of him in Dark Chapter 09, where he shows Yui a blood soaked rose.
Also, I greatly enjoyed the instrumental version of "Scarborough Fair" that played a few times.

His Maniac chapters got a bit more interesting, since he was gaining more trust in Yui.
He started to even allow her to hold onto his Teddy near the end.

But Kanato wouldn't be Kanato without some moodswings and insane behaviour.
In one chapter he sexually assaulted Yui and in another one, he made her lick his blood off his hand.

But the most interesting part of the middle chapters was the Epilogue,
where he is alone in the bathroom with Teddy and asks him the best method of turning Yui into a doll.
Meaning, he wants to KILL her.

In the last part of his route, the Ecstasy Chapters, Kanato was different in the later chapters.
This time around he actually showed genuine love towards Yui and,

he even burned his Teddy as proof of how serious he was about being with ONLY her.

And in his Epilogue, we learn that the ashes (hidden in Teddy) were the ones of his own mother,
who he burned after finding her with a hole in her chest. In the Ending 1 that I got, Kanato learns that the heart has been placed inside Yui as a baby. And he starts to think it's fate that he finally gets to be with his "mother" who he had always wanted to be with.
Yui is now his, for all eternity.

One thing I didn't mention is, how often he cries.
Every time he does that, my motherly instincts kick in and I just want to hug him and pat his head...

Now the big question: Am I looking forward to seeing Kanato again in the next game?
The answer has to be YES!
